The day was calm and clear. The water was peaceful and shimmering with the golden glow of the sun. The gulls were flying overhead. An enormous, scruffy, white gull swooped down and dipped his head under the still surface of the water. He came up with a mouthful of fish. More and more started diving. It was a beautiful sight. As they flew away in the distance I could hear faint squawks of satisfaction. The water was lapping against the boat causing it to sway. The boat was rented. The price was cheap but the old boat was ancient. Larry, Harry, Bobby and I were on a fishing trip. We were stuck in the vast Atlantic Ocean as the engine had broken. We were waiting for help when suddenly I saw it . . .
The dorsal fin of a shark. I was confused at first. 'Why is the shark heading towards our boat'. Then it dawned on me. The cut I had received two days ago while cutting an onion had attracted him. I looked at the others.Had they seen the shark too? I looked in Larry's eyes. They were full of fear and panic. I looked back at the shark. What I saw there right in front of me was so terrifying I still have nightmares about it. There were about twenty huge, bloodthirsty sharks. The boat rocked violently beneath us. The sudden movement knocked Harry, Larry and me back. 'Were is Bobby,' I thought. Just then we heard a deafening scream coming from the water. We sprinted to the edge of the boat. All we saw was thick, red blood and sharks chewing on Bobby's remains. Once again the boat lurched dangerously to the left. I nearly fell overboard, but Larry grabbed onto my shirt. While Harry and Larry hauled me back up the boat tilted slightly to the right. Sharks had bitten through the boat's bottom. We started to scream. In the distance I could see a speck. I thought it was another bloodthirsty shark. My eyes filled with tears. I lay down on the boat ready to die. I thought about Bobby. How he must have felt. I shuddered at the thought. Larry shook my shoulder.
'Get up,' he yelled in my ear. That snapped me out of it. I got up and blinked vigorously to clear my eyes. Harry tells me that a rescue boat is here but can't get any closer so we're going to have to jump. 'Ok' I said but I heard my voice crack. On the count of three we jumped. While in midair I looked down at the enormous sharks. I saw a Hammerhead jump up and bite into Larry's leg and pull him into the swarm of sharks. It was a gruesome sight.
Harry and I were alive. Terrified but alive. We thanked the captain when we reached the coast and raced home. I'm never going to forget what I saw on that day.
Shark Attack! by Andrew Keown
It was a calm and sunny day. I rented a boat a boat and took a look. We headed out on the water. The water was peaceful, shimmering, reflective and crystal clear. When we started to take to take off.We saw big, grey, hungry enormous gulls. We started to feel bad for the gulls so we started fishing.I caught about eight fish. The gulls liked the fish. We started to go for a dive under the water. We looked around in the water. I saw something golden! What was it? It looked like gold coins. But it was actually a gold chest. I could not believe what I found. I swam up to the top and showed everyone. I was so happy. What was going to happen next?
I was having a great time when suddenly I heard a noise. It was like a shark. We did not care so we continued what we were doing. We started to fish again. Someone caught a big massive fish. We started to cut the fish at the side of the boat. All of the blood was going into the sea. We started to panic. There was so much blood in the water now i thought i was going to die. My stomach was churning like mad. Everyone was screaming. I heard a rumble from the bottom of the boat. I knew the shark was there. I saw razer sharp teeth of the shark.
One of the men fell into the water. It was very scary to see the man die. The leader said "keep calm keep calm". The shark bit the arm of the man. The shark jumped up onto the boat and bit the leader's leg off. Good thing we had a gun at the time. The shark fell off the boat. The shark had blood all around him. Then we thought that was the end but it's not. The sharks blood went into the water and other sharks came. We shot all the sharks but we thought that was all the sharks but there was one left. We had no more bullets. What was going to happen next.
Suddenly i saw a sword. The last shark was not like a normal shark it was massive, big beady eyes. It looked like the one from jaws. I did not think of any thing anything. The boat started moving left and right. The leader fell in. He got torn to pieces. I was alone, scared, terrified and a bit strange. I started to become weak. I fell and i thought that was the end but it was scary. I slept. I woke up about ten minutes later. I looked back on what happened. I got treasure,my friends died, the sword, the sword, the sword. That was it. I could kill the shark with the sword. I stood up and picked the sword up. It was like i was killing the bad guy from a movie. I shouted out "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm going to kill you once and for all". I chopped the head of the shark off. It was all over. I had won. I started to turn the boat back to Ireland. On my way back i will remember what has happened and the people who have died. We will never forget. I will never forget.
A month has past and the bodies were found. I was on the news and said
"for people who go on boats be careful with shark,I had a bad day before".

It was a glorious summers day, my son Roger and I were out 20 metres off the coast of Australia. We were using dead fish for bait and the gulls were swooping and diving down in search of supper. The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. We were fishing for 40 minutes and still didn't get a bite. It was my 16 year old son's first time and he was already getting bored. I promised him that we would catch something but all he said was that he was catching a cold. Suddenly I felt the water rumble under the boat...
The rumbling was coming in sequences now. Suddenly a blade like dorsal fin emerged from the water. First I felt a bit curious but after a while a sudden pain of fear pierced through my heart. I realised that my son and I were in for a treat and not the treat you or I would like. In one motion a pair of jaws snapped from the water and tore a piece of the bow off. Suddenly an ear-splitting scream came from my son. I looked around the boat in search of any sign that would tell me Roger was safe. I was about to give up and think the shark dragged him down, but just in that moment I saw his face in the water, I grabbed the ring-bouy and tossed it out to him. When he grabbed on I saw that his left forearm had been torn off. I heaved him in and hoped that the shark would not come back. It was as if my prayers had been answered. I flicked out my mobile phone and checked the reception. To my relief I had one bar I dialled 911 and waited until they came. That evening my son and I realised how lucky we were. We certainly would never set foot near there again.

My eyes quickly opened in my small but cozy cabin. Suddenly, I could smell a delicious scent coming from downstairs. I leaped out of the fabric hammock and put on my clothes. I dashed out of the room to see what is cooking. My mum was cooking up a tasty batch of devilled eggs and blueberry pancakes. After I ate, for an awkward reason, I was filled with joy. I raced onto the balcony like a race car and saw that Mum, Dylan and Jack were there. The air was breathtaking , the sea was calm and shimmering and the sun was shining brightly in the crystal clear skies.
Out of the corner of my eye, in the middle of the vast ocean, I spotted a grey figure, looked like an aeroplane underwater swimming towards the yacht. I thought it was a fish so I carelessly walked away back into the kitchen. A few minutes later, I was thinking what I should draw on the deck. I decided not to draw anything but that was the mistake I made. When I put the piece of cardboard paper back, I stupidly got a paper cut and I whined annoyingly to my Mum. Before I was going to get a bandage, a grey shark leaped out of the aquamarine waters. Its razor-sharp teeth was covered with blood, it had fish guts on its tongue and it had an evil deathly look. It was really annoying when Jack screamed like a girl. It was deafening. For a second, I thought I was a goner but instead of chewing our limbs off, its ferocious teeth gnawed into the side of our yacht.
I thought to myself '' Oh my! We are not going to make it!'' However, a part of me said ''NO! I am not going to give up YET!'' Instead of panicking like a girl who got her hands stuck in the door, I rushed quickly down the stairs to the lower deck to get the metal harpoon but it was to late. The area was flooded with water and painful shards of steel. I was to scared but our lives depended on it. I swam crazily like a dog swimming. The pain was unbearable and some small shards were floating and causing more wounds. I grabbed the harpoon and started to search for the shark. 2 minutes of searching and nothing... It disappeared into the turquoise waters. I had no worries in the world but the gaping hole in the yacht was filling up with water. Before I dashed to the wooden stairs, a chunk of the ceiling fell on top of it. I had no other options but to swim through the hole. Regardless that the shark could get me, I called to Dylan for a ladder. Almost everything was alright but one more problem. The sinking yacht. We quickly swam to the nearest Country, Japan. We settled in Hokkaido in the island of Japan. Jack asked an annoying question, '' How are we so close to Japan?!'' My Mum keeps saying '' We were In the PACIFIC OCEAN!'' We settled there for a few months and flew back to Ireland.
SHARK ATTACK! By Ethan Gannon
My eyes fluttered open as I awoke in my small swaying cabin. The smell of egg & sausage woke me up. When I got out of bed and got dressed I looked out my window and saw the lovely, shimmering, turquoise ocean while hearing the waves caress against the boat. I went down to the deck the eat breakfast and get ready to go fishing.
My friend was calling me telling me to hurry up. I told him I would be one second because I was eating my breakfast. When I came to the front deck my friend was sitting there he looked bored until I came.he was holding his rod as it bobbed up and down in the water. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a dark blue blob in the water but I just ignored As the blob got closer I got more curious until a fin came up and my friends rod got heavier. He thought he had caught us dinner but he actually caught us a shark! We both panicked and sprinted to the kitchen. Looking out the window we got frightened but we realised the shark was very passive. My friend and I went out and saw it was a dolphin not a shark! "Phew" we both puffed.
At the end of it all my friend and I found out we were sailing near an island with a dolphin aquarium and research on it. The owners thanked us as they explained that the dolphin escaped and swam to us as the dolphin thought we were the workers from the island . We talked to the owners and they thanked us again. After that the dolphin and we sailed home safe and sound thank God.

When I awoke in my small, swaying cabin I jumped out of bed exited for my first ever fishing trip. When I ran out the door I could already see the beautiful, blue sky and the peaceful, light blue sea. I could smell my dad cooking breakfast. The smell of the sausages and rashers made me really hungry.
That afternoon my dad and I where getting our stuff together for the fishing trip. We got our rowing boat and sailed about a mile out from the yacht. We were there for about two hours but I only caught a cold. Out of the corner of my eye I something speeding towards my dad and I. The massive figure shot out of the clear, blue sea and split our rowing boat in half. The large figure swerved back around and headed straight for my terrified dad and I. The mysterious figure in the sea, that I now know is a ferocious shark was speeding towards me,
but just before the menacing shark bit me my Dad, bravely pushed me out of the way but in the process of doing so the shark tugged at my Dad's arm. I tried to help him by bravely coming back and poking the shark in its eye. The shark then just stopped and ran away. My Dad was in a lot of pain from the bite.
After a few minutes a rescue helicopter brought us back to our magnificent yacht. In the helicopter my dad was getting lifesaving treatment. I was in the front worried to my wits about him. When we got back to the yacht my dad had to get surgery on his arm over in the U.S. The doctor told us that he was going to be fine so not to worry about him.The nice doctor asked me a few questions to see was I ok.
A few days later I went to check on my Dad who I was worried sick for.
He was in his hospital bed still in a bit of pain but he said he was ok. I was glad to see my Dad alive and well but the first thing I told him that was the last time we go fishing.
